Yaletown cat

I live in the suburbs with my big-cats; but in my heart I am a Yaletown kind of cat.

I like pretty things that come in Holt Renfrew boxes and bags, I like to have a fuss made over me, I like sparkly things that dangle, I like a good hair treatment (brushing), and I want to humiliate small dogs by making them wear silly sweaters.

Richmond is nice, but I think I'm ready to move out and get my own place in Yaletown...I've heard that the condos there are small enough to be cat sized.

And in a couple years, I will be old enough to get into the nice wine bars.

Maybe I need to find a sugar-cat to set me up.

The Olympics

There's a little known fact that I applied to be an official mascot for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. I was turned down because I once hissed at Mr. Furlong when he tried to steal one of my Fancy Feasts.

When I heard that they had picked three official mascots (and one not-so-official one) I was pissed. Where was the Pheobe-Cat mascot? I mean, come on, Sumi isn't even real. VANOC chose a make believe mascot over me. WTF?

So to express my displeasure, I made friends with Muk Muk over the Internet, and lured him home...and then I beat him up. Let's see him entertain small children with his nose chewed off.

I hope the planners of London 2012 are listening...P-Kitty wants to go to the Olympics.

Sad to report

that the nest that the two little birdies had built in my backyard has been broken and knocked on its side.

Somehow the nest was knocked from where it had been for the last month and whatever had been in the nest has been taken. The two nice birdies have flown away to be with their flock in this time of grief.

The suspects (two large crows) have been yelled at and driven from the area by my big-cats. We hope to never see them again.

My backyard

The big-cats have been very busy recently getting my backyard ready for my summer relaxation. They've planted some grass, built some raised beds for plants, and put down some pea-stones beside the house for drainage. (I thought the pea-stones were a big litter box when I first saw them...until I was "warned").

The concrete catio beside the house isn't quite up to my preferred temperature yet; but I've already thrown up four times this month from eating grass. I love the summer.

If I could find a way to get up into the hammock or to climb the post to the birdie-nest, I would be a very happy cat.

My little friend Brenna

The big-cats had 35 of their friends and family over for dinner last night. I did the smart thing and hid upstairs until they had all gone.

Brenna (one of the big-cats' nieces) left me a Fancy Feast as a peace offering/present. The Fancy Feast had spinach in it...something I don't normally have...I mean come on, I'm a carnivore not a vegetarian.

The big-cats gave this veggie infused Fancy Feast for dinner tonight and it was really good...I could not stop eating it. See for yourself. Thankfully my friend Jacob brought four more of these special FFs. So I will have more later this week.

Thanks J & B, you can come over any time.

Mulroney vs Schreiber

I wish that I had a casual friend that would give me $225,000 in cash; and that the government would then give me $2.1-million for calling me names.

That would buy me a lot of Fancy Feast.

I'm sick of this circus and wish there was another way to settle things once and for all.

Hmmmm,

It's summer time....

and this weekend my big-cats are having a barbeque to celebrate Mama-Heisig having moved to town. As a result, there are going to be a lot of people over at our house on Sunday.

I may take a page from this cat and take a bunch of cans upstairs (in my case, Fancy Feast) and hide out until the barbeque is over.

PS I hope it is sunny on Sunday...because if it's raining, everyone will have to be inside and some of the kids may wander upstairs to say hi to me. That wouldn't be good....

Another season over

It wasn't pretty last night but in the end, I think the better team won.

There were a lot of players who probably played their last game for the Canucks last night. It would be nice to see Ohlund come back but I don't think he will.

Maybe next year Cory Hodgson will be our version of Kane or Toews.

Canucks, updated

Well, it was all going to plan last night. I sent the Big-Cat out so he couldn't watch the game. The Canucks were playing well, the score tied 2-2 with only a couple minutes left to play....

Then, without warning the Big-Cat's dinner is finished, he gets in his car and turns on the hockey game. Less than 30 seconds later, Bieksa is in the penalty box and Chicago scores the game winning goal. Now Chicago is leading the series 3 games to 2. Why oh why did the Big-Cat have to start listening to the game!!!

Someone needs to keep the Big-Cat busy on Monday night or the Canucks season is over.

My buddy Maggie

As this picture proves, cats and pugs can be good friends...so I'd like to give a quick shout out to my buddy Maggie the Pug who had to go back this week and visit the VET. I hope you're better soon.

PS If you see Dr Stacy, hiss at her for me

The Good Ole Hockey Game

I've been a hockey fan for 15 years and I like to think that I'm an informed fan. I know that you can't spell Byfuglien without "ugly" and you can't spell Sundin without "dun" (think phonetically). And unlike one of my long-time readers, I've never asked Wayne Gretzky what he did for a living (true story).

I've been known to try to watch the mini-game over the shoulder of the announcers between periods because as Stompin' Tom has said many times, "It's the best game you can name."

I'm also a good luck charm when I watch hockey games (unlike the Big-Cat). The Big-Cat has watched two games of the playoff series vs Chicago and the Canucks have lost them both. In fact, there was a famous game during the regular season that the Big-Cat was flipping back and forth between it and another show. The Canucks won 6 to 5 and the Big-Cat saw 5 goals (none of which was scored by the Canucks).

And while I'm very disappointed that my Canucks lost last night, I know that game 5 is a new game and it's a must win. I will be sitting on the couch on Saturday night (with a fresh Fancy Feast) watching the game. And if you are a Canucks fan, could you please keep the Big-Cat from watching the game?

Star Trek

My Big-Cat is very excited that there is a Star Trek prequel coming out at midnight tonight. He is planning on going to see it on Friday with a friend from work.

The Big-Cat is hoping that this re-imaged Star Trek is as good as the re-imaged Battlestar Galactica was.

I was hoping to be able to go to the movie with him but he's not coming home from work before going to the movie.

I guess that I'll have to wait until the movie comes out on DVD.

To eat, or not to eat; that is the question

I was looking out the window the other day and discovered that we had some squatters in our backyard.

There is a bird-couple that have built a nest in the trellis. The birds look really yummy, but they are fast and I'm not sure I can catch them.

I figure that since they have a nest (see below) they should soon have some little, flightless birdy babies.

I think I will wait to see how things develop before making my move.

After they're born, I hope the little birdies don't make too much noise in the morning, a cat needs her beauty sleep.

The Flu formerly known as Swine

I wasn't sure why everyone was so concerned about some poor little piggies who had the flu until I saw this photo. Now I understand.

Those with Swine Flu should be avoided.
