Steveston

I live in a very pretty area of Vancouver called Steveston; in the southwest corner of Richmond.

Last night, the big-cats were out and came home with a picture of the sunset over the end of the Fraser River.

This (almost) makes me wish that I went for walks along the dyke with the big-cats.

Exercise for cats

My friend (and frequent comment-leaver) Mika just sent this video to the Middle-Cat. I wanted to share it with all my blog-readers out there.

My favorite part is the smaller cat using only his front legs.

The Middle-Cat

I'm going to let you into a small bit of a cat's mind; we don't believe there is any difference between us and what you call humans. To cats, humans are just bigger cats.

When I was born, I allowed myself to be adopted by a nice bigger cat called Chris. I decided that he needed a cat name and so I called him the Big-Cat.

A couple years ago, the Big-Cat met someone with the human name of Josie. Since I already owned a big-cat, I decided to call her the Middle-Cat.

The Middle Cat and I did not get along at first (I like to be distant when meeting someone new and make them work for my affection).

Over the years, she has worked hard to get me to like her and as you can see, she has learned to pick me up and carry me around our new house.

The Middle-Cat is almost tied for first place in my heart; and if the Big-Cat cuts my claws one more time, his stock will fall and the Middle-Cat will be #1.

It's summer, and thoughts turn to hockey?

It's been 10 days since NHL unrestricted free agents could sign with new teams. During that period, GMs have committed over $100-million to about 30 players. That's a lot of cash.

Numbers like that bring two things to my mind:

1) At 79-cents per unit, that would buy a lot of Fancy Feasts!

2) The Toronto Maple Leafs will still suck.

Sushi: to eat or not to eat.

I like Sushi but I love Sashimi.

I prefer Tuna but will accept Salmon.

I like a little bit of wasabi but I don't like pickled ginger.

I don't mind the rice but I'd rather have more fish instead.

And keep the Soya Sauce away from me...I always seem to get some on my cat-suit.

Fish are food, not friends (other than Stampy).

Dogs, what are they good for?

I'm not much of a dog fan...not because of the inherent conflict between cats and dogs; but rather because in my humble opinion, dogs aren't as smart as cats.

My proof? I captured the diary of a dog from the neighborhood...and the contents prove my point:

8:00 am - Dog food! My favourite thing!
9:30 am - A car ride! My favourite thing!
9:40 am - A walk in the park! My favourite thing!
10:30 am - Got rubbed and petted! My favourite thing!
12:00 pm - Lunch! My favourite thing!
1:00 pm - Played in the yard! My favourite thing!
3:00 pm - Wagged my tail! My favourite thing!

5:00 pm - Milk bones! My favourite thing!
7:00 pm - Got to play ball! My favourite thing!
8:00 pm - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favourite thing!
11:00 pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favourite thing!

These comments remind me of the story of a goldfish swimming in circles around in its bowl...every 5 seconds you could hear it exclaim, "Oh, look, a castle!".... "Oh, look, a castle!"...."Oh, look, a castle!"

Dogs and goldfish...simple creatures; but at least goldfish won't wear Halloween costumes.

The Gym

I'm not a gym-cat but occasionally I do like to work out naturally by chasing birdies or moths.

I like to think that Mother Nature should not be monkeyed with by using unnatural chemicals; unlike this guy (Gregg Valentino).

I don't think he is a cat-person.
